Exciting news! I'm thrilled to announce that all 30 positions for Study 8 at Holistic Health LMT in Powell, Ohio, are now filled! This comprehensive research on integrative touch for complex neuroconnective tissue disorders builds on my 11 years of hands-on studies.
Why Study 8 Matters
No one-size-fits-all exists for "invisible" conditions like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS/cEDS), Chiari Malformation, Multiple Sclerosis, Sjögren's Syndrome, and hypermobility spectrum disorders. Symptoms vary—joint instability, dysautonomia (POTS), chronic pain, autonomic anxiety, fascial restrictions. Light touch often triggers rebound spasms; we use gentle-firm to deeper holds for decompression, adapted by individual feedback.
This prospective mixed-methods study pairs quantitative metrics (pain scales, mobility, heart rate variability) with client narratives, tracked via Vitalis Wellness EHR's NeuroConnect module. Sessions emphasize:
Proprioceptive stabilization, Dynamic Stretching with joint stabilization over just Static stretching.
Breath-integrated holds for dysautonomia/anxiety.
Semi-reclined positioning for certain individuals to prevent orthostatic crashes.
Fascial work avoiding irritation.
Protocols from my textbook Integrative Touch & Neuroconnective Health draw from my hypermobility, daughter's hEDS (diagnosed 3 years ago), sister's hEDS with classical traits, and family stats (18 with EDS, 22 with Chiari—common overlap).
Personal Drive Behind the Research
As a Licensed Massage Therapist, Naturopath, mother of 4, grandmother of 2, and cat mom who cherishes nature's healing, I live this work. My Powell practice welcomes all clients, but Study 8 addresses gaps where standard Medicinal therapies fail—restoring nervous-system and Connective Tissue safety.
Early findings promise sustained gains in pain relief, stability, calm, and function. Donations still welcome for HIPAA-compliant data analysis and CEU dissemination at holistichealthlmt.org/projects-8.
Thank you to our participants! Stay tuned for results that bridge somatic therapy and neuroscience. 💙
